📖 This Week’s Scripture
Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
Dear Friend,
There are moments in life when the next step does not feel obvious.
You want to make a wise decision. You want to honor God. But instead of clarity, you feel the weight of not knowing exactly what to do.
That is where this scripture meets us so personally.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us that trust does not begin once everything makes sense. Trust begins in the place where we cannot yet see the whole picture.
Sometimes we want God to show us the entire path before we move. But often, He leads us one step at a time, asking us to trust His wisdom more than our own understanding.
🌿 What This Can Look Like in Real Life
For me, this scripture became very real after I unexpectedly had to take an early retirement.
Not long after that, I was presented with an opportunity to take a writing course. I felt such a strong desire to do it, but the problem was simple: we did not have the money for it. We had just become a one-income family, and it felt like the kind of decision that should have been impossible.
What surprised me most was how much my husband was at peace with it. I truly expected him to say no. Instead, he seemed confident that it was okay.
And deep in my heart, I felt that quiet nudge too.
So I trusted God and moved forward.
Several weeks later, I received a completely unexpected check in the mail from the Department of Labor. An audit had found that years earlier my employer had underpaid me, and they now owed me that money.
The amount of the check was just a few cents more than the cost of the course.
I was overwhelmed.
That moment stayed with me because it reminded me that when God leads, He is fully aware of what we cannot yet see.
🌿 When Scripture Moves Through Real Life
Sometimes trusting God does not look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like making a prayerful decision without having every answer.
Sometimes it looks like taking one step forward while still feeling unsure.
Sometimes it looks like choosing peace over panic and obedience over fear.
That is what this passage looks like in motion.
It is not about having perfect certainty. It is about trusting the Lord enough to let Him guide what comes next.
🌿 A Gentle Reminder for Today
If the next step feels unclear, you are not alone.
You may not have the full picture today, but you do not walk alone. God sees what you cannot see. He knows what is ahead. And He is faithful to guide the heart that is surrendered to Him.
You do not need all the answers to take the next faithful step.
🌿 Reflection Questions
What decision feels unclear in my life right now?
Am I leaning on fear, pressure, or my own understanding?
What would it look like to trust God with the next step, even without full clarity?
🌿 A Short Prayer
Lord,
When I cannot clearly see the next step, help me trust You with my whole heart. Quiet the pressure to figure everything out on my own, and teach me to rest in Your wisdom. Lead me with Your peace and help me walk faithfully, one step at a time. Amen.
